A Chat with Pete Mathias: Venture capitalist and Partner at Alumni Ventures

This week, Stephen Ibaraki has an exclusive interview with Pete Mathias.

Pete MathiasPete Mathias is a venture capitalist and Partner at Alumni Ventures, a global investment firm. With a background in entrepreneurship, arts, and policy, Pete started as a touring drummer collaborating with the U.S. Department of State, fostering cultural ties through music. Pete's insights into global challenges and strategic technologies planted a foundation for venture that he reinforced at firms like .406 Ventures, where Pete was a Student Fellow, and Bertelsmann Investments, where he was a Senior Director, before joining Alumni Ventures.

Recognized as a "2024 Rising Star in VC" by Venture Capital Journal and a "Top VC to Know" by Business Insider, Pete is a Distinction graduate of University of Oxford, holds an MBA and A.B. (magna cum laude) from Dartmouth College, and an MPA from Harvard University. He has been selected as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the New York Economic Club (ECNY), and was a young delegate on the American Council on Germany (ACG).
