NPA launched the first annual Awards for Professionalism program in Las Vegas – May 8, 2002. Six individuals were recognized that day as the Network Professional Association hosted its first Awards for Professionalism ceremony at Networld+ Interop 2002, which took place at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
In inaugurating this event, the NPA asked the networking
industry to recognize and promote the excellence within it, and the
industry has responded with winners, said Chris Setz, president,
NPA Advisory Board. It is appropriate that the professional
body for networking provide the framework for these winners to set
ethical and professional standards. It is in the nature of our industry
that future winners will continue to raise those standards.
The Awards for Professionalism honors individuals for their outstanding achievements as professionals within the IT network and IT professionals industry. To date, each year the Awards for Professionalism winners have been announced during Interop Las Vegas.
Each year industry partners join the NPA in support of honors for excellence. The consortium of partners have included Interop, Network Computing, Network World, Pearson Technologies/Cisco Press, GITCA and more.
Awards for Professionalism winners demonstrate the best balance of professional responsibilities including technical competency, ethics and a proper professional, education and industry credentials, community and industry contributions, leadership, professional affiliation.
